Criminal Defense: General Practice
The Law Office of Christopher Leibig has been consistently recognized as a top criminal defense law firm throughout the DC area and Virginia. The firm handles primarily serious felony cases in state and federal court. It also handles misdemeanor and traffic cases on a select basis.
Chris began his carrer in 1996 as an Assistant Public Defender in Alexandria, Virginia, where he tried cases for six years. For the first two years he handled every English-speaking DWI case appointed to the office. He was later promoted to Senior Assistant and handled serious felony cases, including all varieties of drug offenses, sex offenses, and murder.
Chris started his own law firm with colleague Andrea Moseley in 2002, and that firm merged with the nationally known Law Office of John Kenneth Zwerling to form Zwerling, Leibig, and Moseley in 2005. In 2012, Chris formed the Law Office of Christopher Leibig, which works in close conjunction with his former firm and with the Law Office of Joan C. Robin, all of which are located at 114 N. Alfred Street in Old Town Alexandria. Throughout his tiem in private practice, Chris has handled serious felonies throughout Virginia.
In 2014, former public defender Kathryn Batey joined the firm, and Chris launched "The Caribbean Project", an association of American and Caribbean lawyers who can represent Americans arrested and jailed in Commonwealth Caribbean and British West Indies countries.Law Office of Christopher Leibig, 2015 Highlights:

Chris travelled to Kingston, Jamaica to lecture to two hundred students, as well as professors and a Supreme Court Justice, on digital evidence in the United States, March 2015.
Chris lectured on criminal defense to students at the College of William and Mary, March 2015.
Represented, along with Megan Thomas and Kathryn Batey, Michael Amin Gardner for child sex abuse in Arlington County.
Represented Owen Barber, convicted codefendant in the case of Commonwealth v. Justin Wolfe.
Represented, along with Joe King, Megan Thomas, and Kathyrn Batey, capital murder defendant Charles Severance in Alexandria City (venue moved to Fairfax).
Represented man accused as being part of an international child pornography ring in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
Chris Leibig and Kathryn Batey represented approximately 27 clients for various crimes from capital murder to driving while intoxicated.
