Carol A. Hyde, a partner in the firm’s Corporate and Health Services Practice Groups, practices primarily in the areas of healthcare law and business transactions.
She has counseled a wide variety of clients in the healthcare field, including hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic and treatment centers, ambulatory surgery centers, chemical dependence treatment centers, hospices, laboratories, independent practice associations, third-party administrators, physicians, dentists and other practitioners with respect to a full range of issues such as corporate and regulatory compliance, reimbursement, negotiation of contracts, employment law and employee benefits, acquisitions and sales, financing and real estate matters.
Carol also represents not-for-profit organizations and closely held businesses outside the healthcare field.
A frequent lecturer, Carol has spoken on a variety of topics for a range of organizations, including the New York State Bar Association, the Hospital Education and Research Fund of the Healthcare Association of New York State, The Community Foundation for the Capital Region, the New York State Ambulatory Health Care Association and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Her speaking engagements have covered contracting with physicians, hospital-owned physician practices, the “Stark” law and fraud and abuse, confidentiality of medical records, advance directives, tax-exempt organizations, violence in the workplace, powers of attorney and charitable giving.
A member of the American Health Lawyers Association, Carol is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Helena Ptochia Foundation and is the First Vice Chair the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York. In 2015, 2016 and 2017, she was a Camp CEO mentor.
Carol has been named to Best Lawyers in America for Employment and Healthcare by U.S. News & World Report from 2017-2019.Prior to entering private practice, Carol served as attorney-advisor to the Hon. Charles R. Simpson, a judge of the United States Tax Court, in Washington, D.C.
