I am a life-long resident of Knoxville. I graduated from the University of the South in 1966 and the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1969. After serving two years in the U.S. Army, I began my practice with Frantz, McConnell & Seymour, LLP.
I have tried civil cases of almost every description in state and federal court throughout Tennessee and before the Tennessee Court of Appeals and Tennessee Supreme Court. Presently my practice focuses in the areas of zoning and land use law, municipal and government relations, general civil litigation, contracts and real estate law. I routinely appear on behalf of clients before governmental administrative and legislative bodies such as the Knoxville-Knox County Metropolitan Planning Commission.
I have been listed in the Best Lawyers of America and was recognized by the Tennessee Business Magazine as one of the 150 best lawyers in the State of Tennessee. I am a member of the Tennessee and Knoxville Bar Associations, the International Association of Defense Council, the National Association of Railroad Trial Council and am a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
I stay involved in the community, serving as Counsel for the East Tennessee Historical Society for thirty years. I have also been a member of the Knoxville Symphony Society, the Board of Trustees of the Knoxville/Knox County Public Library System, the Board of Commissioners of the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority, and the Board of Trustees of the University of the South.
