At Michelman & Robinson, LLP (M&R), business and legal strategies converge. Our talented attorneys have a thorough understanding of the industries in which our clients work, which enables us to anticipate and solve immediate legal needs while helping our clients reach their long-term business goals.

M&R maintains Industry Affinity Groups (IAGs), vertically integrated interdisciplinary teams of lawyers who share a deep and comprehensive knowledge of the legal and business issues and opportunities facing our clients’ industries. Each IAG team is comprised of attorneys from a variety of practice areas, including litigation, corporate finance, intellectual property, real estate, tax, labor and employment, and administrative and regulatory, who bring their varied legal expertise to a shared focus on a particular industry. With a holistic, 360-degree view of each matter, M&R lawyers cooperatively explore the latest trends, issues, decisions and legislation impacting our clients’ businesses, and collaborate with our clients to leverage that insight in making important business decisions.

As a strategic business partner, we provide legal solutions while helping our clients reach their business objectives. That’s the M&R Difference.

Our History

M&R was founded on two guiding principles: an unwavering commitment to serving our clients long-term business objectives while soling their immediate legal needs, and a strategic industry-focused approach to practicing law.

From our inception in 1999, this unique approach created client demand, necessitating an expansion into Orange County. Specializing in high stakes business litigation, including complex class actions, as well as banking and financial services, the Irvine office would become one of the most respected in the region.

Offices in San Francisco and Sacramento followed soon thereafter, in order to meet our clients’ needs, including broad insurance regulatory work. M&R San Francisco has since grown exponentially and now includes a robust litigation practice servicing a vast array of industries.

While most businesses and law firms were struggling, M&R seized the opportunity to open a New York office, adding a talented pool of corporate transactional attorneys. Since that time, the New York office has grown in size and scope, handling numerous sophisticated transactions and litigation matters.

M&R then opened a Chicago office, solidifying a Midwest presence, and increased its strength in litigation, regulatory and transactional matters across a range of industries, including insurance, technology, advertising and media, health care, hospitality and the arts.

Meanwhile, our Los Angeles office has continued to thrive. Los Angeles houses M&R's administrative and executive leadership.

Today, we are a national law firm still guided by our industry-focused approach and commitment to advancing our client’s long-term business goals.
