M4's litigation team has represented parties in most of the major litigation cases in the State of Hawaii in the past two decades, including the Bishop Estate litigation, and the state antitrust case against the nation’s major energy companies.

M4's Procurement Team obtained judgment on the pleadings in favor of its client, Ansaldo Honolulu JV, in a lawsuit filed by Honolulu resident Paul Berry. Mr. Berry's well-publicized Complaint alleged various statutory violations against Ansaldo and the State of Hawaii arising out of the underlying rail contract.

M4 successfully represented Ansaldo Honolulu JV, the awardee of the Core Systems Design-Build-Operate-Maintain Contract for the Honolulu High-Capacity Transit Corridor Project (Honolulu Rail), in connection with appeals filed by the two losing bidders, Bombardier Transportation (Holdings) USA Inc. and Sumitomo Corporation of America.

M4's Procurement Team obtained a critical victory before the Hawaii Intermediate Court of Appeals on behalf of their client, Ansaldo Honolulu JV, the contract awardee of the $1.4B Core Systems contract for the Honolulu Rail Transit Project.

M4's Procurement Team successfully represented CVS Caremark in defending its recent award of the State Employer-Union Health Benefits Trust Fund's Pharmacy Beneficts Management Services contract.

M4 attorneys obtained a significant win in the Hawai'i Intermediate Court of Appeals on behalf of The Kahala Hotel & Resort.

M4 attorneys obtained a significant win in the Hawai'i Supreme Court on behalf of the Planning Commission of the County of Kaua'i.

M4 attorneys were selected to represent the County of Kauai in the Ordinance 960 lawsuit filed by four biotech seed companies in federal court.

M4 attorneys sought a new trial for Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, Inc. ("Bubba Gump"). At the trial, the jury awarded plaintiff $2.144 million in damages after determining that Bubba Gump (then represented by separate counsel) was negligent in a slip and fall at its Mai Tai Bar in Ala Moana Center.

M4 attorneys successfully represented the Planning Commission of the County of Kauai in appealing a circuit court's decision that declared a Use Permit and a Class IV Zoning Permit automatically approved and ordered the Planning Commission to grant a Special Permit without further deliberation.

$98.825 Million County of Hawaii General Obligation Bonds, 2013 Series A, 2013 Series B and 2013 Series C. Served as bond counsel to the County of Hawaii for this new money and refunding issue of general obligation bonds. Sale date: January 2013.

$1.169 Million County of Hawaii Public Improvement Bond, 2013 Series A (Kona Ocean View Properties Improvement District No. 19). Served as bond counsel to the County of Hawaii for this new money issue of reimbursable general obligation bonds placed with USDA Rural Development. Sale date: September 2013.

$12.64 Million Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (Maui Regional System) Revenue Anticipation Notes, Series 2013. Served as bond counsel to the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation and Maui Memorial Medical Center for this new money issue of revenue anticipation notes. Sale date: October 2013.

Real Estate Representative transactions: the Lanihau Shopping Center, Hokua at 1288 Ala Moana, Ocean Villas at Turtle Bay Resort, Capitol Place, Ka Milo at Mauna Lani, Kauna’oa at Mauna Kea, Ke Kailani at Mauna Lani, Maluhia at Wailea, Pacifica Honolulu, Waihonua at Kewalo, and Symphony Park condominiums.
