Janet Ward Black concentrates her practice on plaintiffs’ personal injury litigation, including mass torts and complex products liability litigation. Black is a past president of the North Carolina Bar Association (2007-2008) and a past president of the North Carolina Academy of Trial Lawyers (2002-2003). She was the second attorney in history to serve as president of both organizations. The program she created while president of the 16,000-member bar association, 4ALL, has been used as a model in the U.S. and Canada for providing free legal services to the poor. Black has been named in North Carolina Super Lawyers each year since 2006, including Top 50 Women attorneys list; and in The Best Lawyers in America multiple times.
