Bruce Avery believes families going through divorce, separation, domestic violence, custody, and child support disputes need assistance in resolving their situations in ways that enable the family to move forward. Mr. Avery works with clients to find the appropriate method of resolving these situations through collaborative practice, mediation, and negotiation, reserving litigation for the cases that truly require it. His goal is to do more than end the current crisis—it is to give the parties tools to resolve future issues before they become problems. Bruce serves as a facilitator and child custody mediator for the Montgomery County Circuit Court. He co-teaches Collaborative Practice at the University of Maryland law school and is a trainer for the Collaborative Practice Training Institute.
