His practice involves commercial litigation, bankruptcy, workouts, lender liability, secured transactions and banking litigation. He is a nationally recognized leader in the bankruptcy area. He served as Chair of the American Bar Association's Bankruptcy Litigation Subcommittee from 1992-1994 and again from 1999-2008, and served as former head of the ABA Creditors' Rights Subcommittee from 1994-1998. He has been an American Bar Foundation Fellow since 1992 and a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute since 1985.
Bill graduated from Emory University with a BA in history with high honors in 1966 and earned his JD with high honors from the University of Florida in 1969. At the University of Florida, he was a Florida Blue Key member and editor-in-chief of the University of Florida Law Review, as well as first in his class.
