Case History

U.S.A. v. Lorrantfy Care Center, et. al., — The first time that the U.S. Justice Dept. sued a nursing home and its entire Board for violation of fair housing act for racial discrimination due to Slavic/Hungarian ownership by American Hungarian Church.  The government lost even though it sent in 10 Justice Dept. testers who were wired.
Levi and Mary Yoder v. Stocker & Sitler and Columbia Natural Resources — First trial in Holmes County where Old Order Amish Rite individuals actually had a jury trial. The Yoders sued since Defendants wrongly filed lease/unitized acreage to tie up their land and all of their neighbors.  The Defendants had hit the largest well at the time. The court/jury awarded the Yoders the right to drill their own well and close to $1 million in compensatory and punitive damages.  Another producer had top leased the property and assisted the Yoders.  Their well was a barn burner.
Great Lakes Energy Co. v. Pennzoil/Quaker State — Represented Great Lakes (nka Range Resources) for breach of oil purchase agreement.  Awarded approximately $2 million as a result of AAA arbitration. Vinson and Elkins defended Pennzoil.

Client Comments

"Bill was my corporate lawyer during most of my ownership of the Academy of Court Reporting. During that time, Bill delivered nothing but the most outstanding representation both for my business and in my personal life. In my opinion, his grasp of the law and willingness to go to the mat for me was second to none. What I have always like most about Bill is his incredible loyalty to me and his commitment to the well being of my business, my family, and myself. He has always been there for me. I could not ask for a better friend and protector."
