Scotty Welch is a Senior Counsel in the Firm's Jackson office. He is a civil trial and appellate lawyer with current emphasis on commercial disputes, lawyers' professional liability and disciplinary actions (including service as an expert witness), financial services litigation, and insurance coverage issues, along with personal injury and product liability litigation, and first-party insurance disputes. Scotty also serves as a civil Mediator. He has experience in the trial and appeals of catastrophic bodily injury and death cases; industrial, agricultural and aviation product liability cases; and complex commercial and insurance litigation of all types. Mr. Welch appears as counsel in more than 130 reported decisions of the Mississippi Supreme Court, Mississippi Court of Appeals, United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and the United States Districts Courts in Mississippi.
Mr. Welch is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and of Litigation Counsel of America. He is a Past National President of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and a Past President of The Mississippi Bar. He served as Mississippi's State Delegate to the ABA House of Delegates (2001 – 2006), Member of the Board of Governors (2006 – 2009) and Member of the House of Delegates (1993 –2009). Mr. Welch was Board of Governors' Liaison to the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) and to Standing Committees on Judicial Independence, Lawyer Professional Liability, Medical Professional Liability and Membership. He currently serves as State Chair of The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation.
