Vladimir Dementiev is a special counsel in Gowlings' Moscow office, focusing on the protection of intellectual property, including patents, industrial designs and utility models. He is a registered patent attorney (patents and industrial designs).
Prior to joining the firm, Vladimir served as Chief of the Department of Patent Law at the Institute of Improvement of Professional Skills. He was also Chief of the Department of Methodology for the Russian Institute of Patent Examination.
Among other achievements, Vladimir participated in the development of the Patent Law and the Service Invention Law of the Russian Federation as well as the regulations for Patent Attorneys. He is currently the vice president of the Russian Chamber of Patent Attorneys.
Representative Work — Vladimir Dementiev is an advocate in the civil courts of Russia in matters dealing with infringement of patent rights, and has spoken at various conferences in Russia and abroad on the subject of intellectual property. He also acted as a counsel for Merck, KRKA and AstraZeneca in legal proceedings against generics.
