Timothy W. Volpe joined Adams and Reese in 2013 as a Partner following the firm’s expansion into Jacksonville.
Practicing law since 1982, Tim focuses primarily in the areas of insurance law, business law and commercial litigation. He frequently represents clients in the insurance industry, including acting as outside general counsel to several companies.
Florida Trend magazine has named him as one of Florida’s “Legal Elite” each year since 2007 and Super Lawyers magazine has placed him in the top 5 percent of attorneys in the state in business litigation and insurance coverage law, each year since 2007.
Tim’s representative experience includes commercial litigation, bankruptcy matters, commercial arbitrations, insurance litigation, non-litigation insurance experience, and including the formation, reorganization, purchase and sale of insurance companies and agencies.
Some highlights of Tim’s representative experience includes:
- Successfully defended title insurance agent against law firm Chicago Title Ins. Co. v. Commonwealth Forest Inv. Inc., 494 F.Supp. 2d 1332 (M.D. Fla. 2007)
- Successfully defended hospital group from class action claims of overcharging Carlile v. Shands Teaching Hosp. & Clinics, Inc., 704 So. 2d 1146 (Fla. 1st DCA 1998)
- Handling a multifaceted, multistate dispute among disputing family owners of corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies and trusts which has included: Multiple evidentiary hearings involving injunctions relating to partnership and trust dissolutions; Appeals including arguments before Nevada Supreme Court and Florida District Court; Multiday evidentiary hearing related to enforce settlement agreement; Multi-hearing arbitration to equalize distribution to the partners; Obtaining partial summary judgments as to critical matters including ownership of substantial property, misuse of partnership assets
Tim received his J.D., with honors, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 1982. He served as editor-in-chief of the University of Florida Law Review.
He earned his Master of Arts in Political Science in Public Administration, high honors, from the University of Florida, in 1982, and he received his B.A. in Interdisciplinary studies, with a certificate in Eastern European Area Studies, high honors, in 1979. Tim is a member of the University of Florida Student Leaders Hall of Fame.
