Susan Hutton is a senior partner in Stikeman Elliott's competition and foreign investment and international trade practice groups. She has provided Competition Act and Investment Canada Act advice in respect of numerous highly complex mergers and acquisitions, for example, Canexus/Superior Plus, Nordion/Sterigenics, Novelis Foil Products/Reynolds Consumer Products, CNOOC/Nexen, Astral/BCE, Motorola Mobility/Google, J&J/Synthes, PotashCorp/BHP Billiton, United/Continental and Wyeth/Pfizer. She also as unparalleled experience with both net benefit and national security reviews under the Investment Canada Act. Susan has guided clients through civil and criminal investigations as well as complaints under the Competition Act, in addition to representing numerous clients on anti-dumping and subsidy matters under the Special Import Measures Act and advising on investor/state dispute resolution under the NAFTA and the WTO. She provides ongoing compliance advice and training to numerous clients for both competition law and anti-corruption compliance. Global Competition Review's 2013 Canada Survey noted that Ms. Hutton is "among the most talented and well-regarded in the country". She is also recognised by Chambers Global as a leading invidivual in The World's Leading Lawyers for Business (Band 2: 2016), is repeatedly recommended by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and is named as one of The Best Lawyers in Canada for competition/antitrust.
