Steve Janik is a founding partner of Ball Janik LLP. His principal areas of practice are real estate, real estate finance, and land use law, with an emphasis on large, high-profile projects. He has guided private and public clients through some of the region’s most important real estate projects, including mixed-use, multi-block developments, major office towers, hotels, and major league sports arenas and stadiums. Mr. Janik has argued several of Oregon’s landmark land use cases.
Mr. Janik has been recognized by his clients and peers as of one the Best Lawyers in America since 1983 and has been selected as Best Lawyers’ Portland, Oregon “Lawyer of the Year” from 2010-2013 in several areas related to real estate and land use. City of Portland — Mr. Janik represented the City of Portland in the development and financing of the Rose Garden Arena, (home to the NBA Portland Trailblazers). Mr. Janik also represented the City in the remodeling of PGE Park for AAA Baseball and subsequent renovation of the same park for Major League Soccer (home to the Portland Timbers).
Development of Portland's South Waterfront — Mr. Janik represented the developers of Portland's largest urban redevelopment in the City of Portland.
Seattle Seahawks Stadium — Mr. Janik represented the Washington State Public Stadium Authority in the $430 million development, construction and leasing of Seattle Seahawks Stadium.
