With over 15 years’ experience in legal practice, Sofia Gomes da Costa is particularly focused on corporate / M&A and cross-border transactions, structured finance, investment transactions and corporate governance and privatisations. She is also skilled in structuring transactions involving large property portfolios, including forward funding, turn-keys, guaranteed income acquisitions, sale and lease back, forward purchase, structuring of real estate company groups or investment funds. Sofia is also one of the few lawyers in Portugal with experience in structuring Islamic investments governed by Shari’ah Law. She has considerable experience and knowledge of the demands of global projects, having been involved in important transactions both in Portugal and in several other countries such as Mozambique, China, Macau and Angola. She recently coordinated the IPO of the Portuguese Mail Company – CTT Correios de Portugal, S.A. She is recommended by Chambers Europe, Legal 500, PLC – Which Lawyer and Best Lawyers. Sofia has also been nominated in the last 3 years in the prestigious European Women in Business Law Awards, by Euromoney Legal Media. A graduate of the law faculty of Universidade de Lisboa (1994), Sofia Gomes a Costa was admitted to the Portuguese Bar Association in 1996.
