Shouka is a member of the firm's estate planning practice group. Her practice includes estate planning, through the drafting and implementation of trusts and wills, and administration of both probate and non-probate estates. She also specializes in the preparation of specialty trusts including life insurance trusts, charitable remainder trusts, generation-skipping trusts, Crummey trusts, and title-holding trusts.
Shouka also counsels tax-exempt and non-profit organizations. She has assisted in the organization and operation of both operating and non-operating private foundations, as well as public charities and charter schools.
Shouka has experience working with educators, parents and other community groups to establish charter schools in the Portland area. Shouka has worked with clients to explain and meet Oregon and Portland charter school requirements, submit charter school applications, and develop and implement the pre and post-operational steps necessary for opening a charter school.
