He advises on all aspects of insolvency and corporate restructuring from both a contentious and non-contentious perspective. He regularly advises on, restructures and, when necessary, enforces securities on behalf of financial institutions and lending syndicates.
He also specialises in commercial dispute resolution and he has conducted substantial commercial litigation across all Australian jurisdictions. His practice also focuses on alternative dispute resolution. A trained mediator, Scott has acted for parties in many complex commercial mediations and expert determinations.
Scott numbers among his clients many of the leading insolvency firms in Australia, a number of large Australian and US-based banks and financial institutions, several multinational manufacturing corporations and major construction and property development companies. Major assignments include acting for the administrators and liquidators of the ABC Learning Group , acting for the administrators of Henry Walker Eltin Limited, acting for the liquidators of HIH Insurance and acting for a large body of creditors in the Retail Adventures Administration.
Scott has a particular specialisation in advising directors of both publicly listed and private companies when those companies are facing solvency issues or restructuring debt. He has often advised the boards of local subsidiaries of multi-national companies. He also regularly advises non-Australian corporations on issues arising under Australian corporations and insolvency law.
