Health care law, in all its many aspects, is Ms. Dean's passion. Her desire to better serve her clients and understand healthcare laws and regulations in depth led her in 2010 to return to school to begin obtaining her masters of law (LL.M.) in health law. Her education, coupled with her years representing clients in health law related matters, provide her clients with sophisticated counsel on a wide range of issues, including healthcare transactions, regulatory matters, practice formation, government investigations, medical ethics, and physician integration.
She is immersed in efforts at both the federal and state levels to reform healthcare and address its rising costs. She has extensive knowledge of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, health benefit exchanges, accountable care organizations, and Medicare/Medicaid reforms.
Ms. Dean guides her clients through complex healthcare transactions, and compliance with the numerous laws and regulations, including the Anti-kickback Statute, Stark , HIPAA, EMTALA, HITECH, Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and all types of interactions with the FDA. She represents individual and institutional providers in internal, administrative, and judicial proceedings, including those related to government investigations and audits, medical device and pharmaceutical development and FDA approval, provider licensing, credentialing and peer review, and ethics inquiries and investigations. She also advises clients in governance matters, including drafting and implementing board and medical staff bylaws, policies, and rules.
Her commitment to her clients and the industry is demonstrated by her involvement in both state and federal efforts to implement meaningful and financially viable health care reform. She has authored numerous publications on health-related topics and is a regular contributor to Holland & Hart's Health Law blog.
