Normand D'Amour is a litigator and Partner in the Montréal office of Miller Thomson. His clientele is composed of general trade contractors, owners, as well as building material manufacturers and distributors.
An expert in the field of construction law, Mr. D'Amour specializes in writing and negotiating contracts, interpreting statutes, litigation, mediation and arbitration. He also provides legal advice on matters such as; the professional qualifications of contractors (licence), litigation relating to tendering process compliance (including challenges to BSDQ regulations), personal insurance applicable to construction, claims filed with insurance companies as a result of accidents on construction sites, construction bonds and indemnity agreements, statutory hypothecs (liens), and claims for unforeseen costs incurred during the construction work.
Mr. D'Amour regularly represents clients before courts of law, arbitrators and administrative tribunals such as the Régie du bâtiment and the Construction Industry Commissioner, and provides training for site managers through courses and/or lectures specifically developed for non-lawyers, namely the Association des ingénieurs municipaux du Québec and the Corporation des Entrepreneurs Généraux du Québec.
