Mark most admires his wife and best friend, Monica, who have been married since 1975. Monica was the Chair of the Louisiana State Mineral Board and on the Executive Committee of her law firm when she suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm in 2002. Although she is no longer able to practice law, Mark says Monica has lived her life to the fullest with a wonderful positive attitude and has been an inspiration for all.

Mark’s other interests include playing and coaching a number of sports, with his favorite being basketball. Despite his busy law practice, Mark is most proud of his family and the fact that he has always been very involved in family matters.

"Mark Surprenant has been lead attorney on Loyola's account for several years. During that time, he has proven not only his legal prowess and skill, but also his true human nature and compassion. Mark is extremely responsive to emergent issues and he takes his time to properly evaluate all variables before rendering advice or responding. That said, he can also finesse his way into taming raging legal fires as they erupt. I find Mark a pleasure to work with and he has my full faith and confidence."

"We utilized Mark Surprenant as our exclusive defense counsel in Louisiana for more than 16 years. He was extremely competent in all areas of litigation we encountered. As our volume grew, Mr. Surprenant formed a team of associates and partners to assist in the defense of our cases; however, he never allowed the quality of work to diminish. He forged close working relationships with our local management and that was extremely cost effective and helpful to our company as well. Overall, I found Mr. Surprenant to be one of our most effective defense attorneys in the country. "
