Louis is a corporate/commercial lawyer who practises primarily in the areas of international trade and transportation law.
He has served as lead counsel in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and financings involving carriers, shippers and other members of the transportation industry. Louis regularly negotiates partnership and shareholder agreements, and various types of commercial contracts, including carriage of goods, warehousing, load brokerage, logistics, owner-operator, franchise, supply and distribution agreements. He frequently advises on regulatory compliance, licensing, carrier safety and security matters under federal and Ontario law, freight claims for cargo loss, damage or delay and the establishment and safe operation of public transit entities. He also advises importers, exporters, carriers and sufferance warehouse operators on Customs matters, including tariff classification, origin, valuation, marking, seizures, ascertained forfeitures, administrative monetary penalties and other cross-border trade matters.
