COMMERCIAL LITIGATION & INSURANCE DEFENCE

The focus of Louis' practice has been representing Canadian, U.S., European and Chinese corporations, particularly manufacturers and insurers, in the defence or prosecution of product liability, negligence and/or breach of contract claims. He is often consulted by his clients in relation to the negotiation of supply and service agreements with a view to mitigating legal exposure and risk. Louis possesses considerable courtroom experience, having tried a wide variety of cases in courtrooms across Ontario. While he is committed to the resolution of disputes on commercially sensible terms, he is firmly of the view that some matters require a trial — and that excellence in trial and appellate advocacy are essential to effective client service.

INNOVATIVE SERVICE DELIVERY

Louis has invested a considerable amount of time pioneering new and innovative methods of service delivery involving knowledge management tools, customized software, new staffing and billing models. These efforts are primarily centred upon insurance defence and subrogated recovery and are geared towards the handling of larger volumes of claims, primarily for insurers, at lower cost to clients.
