Lance is a Shareholder in the firm's Litigation and Appellate Practice Groups and is the firm's Assistant General Counsel. His practice primarily involves appellate practice, commercial litigation, and legal malpractice defense. Lance has handled appellate proceedings in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Supreme Court of Florida, and Florida's District Courts of Appeal. In addition, he has successfully defended clients in trials involving complex commercial matters. As Assistant General Counsel, Lance works to ensure that the firm operates in compliance with all legal requirements and ethical rules.
Prior to joining Hill Ward Henderson, Lance served as a law clerk to the Honorable Charles T. Wells, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Florida.
Lance is active in the legal community, serving as Co-Chair of the ABA Appellate Practice Committee's Programming Subcommittee and as a member of The Florida Bar's Appellate Court Rules Committee. He has previously served as Vice-Chair of The Florida Bar Appellate Practice Section's CLE Committee and as Assistant Editor of the Record (the Journal of The Florida Bar's Appellate Practice Section). He has also volunteered as a tutor at Academy Prep Center of Tampa, a private college-preparatory school for children of low-income families.
