Karen S. McGinley is a Shareholder of Devine Millimet and chairs the Real Estate Practice Group. She has more than 36 years of experience in real estate matters including the representation of developers, investors, lenders, and borrowers involved in real estate purchase and sale transactions, financing, and real estate title. She also handles leasing transactions, operational issues and problems as well as zoning and planning issues for the firm's real estate clients.
An example of Karen's innovative approach to real estate development is her co-authoring of the first Traditional Neighborhood Development ordinance in the United States, which was adopted at the 1991 town meeting by Bedford, New Hampshire, to enable the development of village, mixed-use projects. In 2012, the Town of Bedford adopted an updated version of this ordinance, which Karen drafted (a volunteer project for the town), for its most commerical area of town, the River Corridor Smart Growth Overlay Zone, and she is currently drafting the regulations for the Bedford Planning Board to adopt. Karen has extensive experience in complex condominium and other creative forms of real estate development, including mixed-use devlopment.
