Julia Strickland focuses on defending financial institutions in complex and class actions nationwide through dispositive motion practice, trial and/or appeal. She has tried and settled the full range of complex and class actions. She is versatile and creative in addressing settlement considerations, both legal and business, and in developing settlement structure options unique to the particular case. She also routinely represents companies in compliance counseling, regulatory proceedings and responding to claims by the CFPB, Attorneys General and other enforcement authorities. She is a member of the Firm's Executive Committee, Managing Partner of the Los Angeles office, and the Firm's national Financial Services/Class Action Practice Group.

Edwards et al v. Macy's, Inc. et al — Represented Department Stores National Bank and Macy's Inc. in defeating putative class claims as preempted by the National Bank Act and OCC regulations.
McGill v. Citibank, N.A — Successfully represented Citibank, N.A. in defeating efforts in a consumer class action to challenge arbitration agreements for public injunctive relief under California’s Unfair Competition Law and Consumer Legal Remedies Act. An appeal is pending before the California Supreme Court.
City Select Auto Sales Inc v. BMW Bank of North America Inc, et al. — Defeated class certification on behalf of the BMW defendants in a putative class action under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). An appeal is pending before the Third Circuit.
Zepeda v. PayPal, Inc. et al. — Prevailed on motion to dismiss in class action brought against PayPal and Ebay and successfully negotiated a nationwide settlement involving over 100 million PayPal account holders in the U.S.
In re Zappos.com, Inc — Obtained an important victory for Zappos.com, Inc. in federal multidistrict litigation, dismissing claims arising from a data security incident.
Deniz v. Chase — Defeated class certification on behalf of JP Morgan Chase in action for violations of various California consumer-protection laws in connection with the purchase of Retail Installment Sales Contracts from California automobile dealers.
McCarn vs. HSBC USA, Inc — Prevailed on motion to dismiss claims in putative class action challenging HSBC’s private mortgage insurance practices, defeating the action in full.
