John serves as the firm's General Counsel and also is a member of its Executive Committee. He formerly chaired its national Litigation Department. He is a trial attorney with 30 years of experience handling commercial matters. In the past 18 months, John has first chaired victories in one trial and two arbitrations, and successfully argued another case before the Colorado Court of Appeals, which affirmed a victory in another trial court. John also specializes in corporate governance and serves as independent counsel to the boards of directors of a $40 billion public pension fund and one of the world's largest engineering firms.
John represents public and private companies, their officers and directors, issuers of securities, investment banks, broker-dealers, auditors and others in litigation, including securities and corporate governance disputes. He also represents companies and individuals in litigation involving real estate, banking, software, natural resources and other commercial areas. Additionally, John represents clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions by state and federal agencies and self-regulatory organizations.
John conducts internal investigations for companies and also represents individuals in such investigations.
Before joining the firm, John chaired the Trial Department at Holme Roberts & Owen LLP in Denver. John has been recognized by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America and Colorado Super Lawyers as one of Colorado's top trial attorneys.
