John P. Giffune is a trial attorney and counselor serving the legal needs of the construction industry. His clients, including contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, material suppliers, developers, as well as both public and private project owners, have come to rely on his efficient, common sense and results oriented approach to solving their legal problems.
Since his admission to the bar in 1997, John has litigated, arbitrated and mediated construction disputes in the state and federal courts of Maine, Massachusetts and beyond. John has defended and prosecuted a variety of construction disputes including force majeure, changed conditions, construction defect, collapse and delay claims. He also has extensive experience counseling public and private project owners, contractors and design professionals in the area of design and construction services procurement including bid protests, and drafting and negotiation of design and construction contracts.
Outside the construction area, John represents businesses and individuals in connection with a variety of complex commercial disputes including enforcement of security agreements, insurance coverage issues, Uniform Commercial Code matters and commercial foreclosures.
John was born in Millinocket, Maine. He holds a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering and is a patented inventor (Patent No. 5,248,244). John now lives in Cumberland, Maine, with his wife and two sons. When not in his office, he can be found enjoying the outdoors with his family.
