Concentrating on labour relations and employment law, Jane Roffey advises employers on a wide range of labour matters. These include employment contracts, collective agreement negotiations and administration, human rights complaints, employment standards matters and wrongful dismissal.
She also frequently acts as employer spokesperson in the negotiation of collective agreements, appears on behalf of employers before Boards of Arbitration and administrative tribunals including the Ontario Labour Relations Board and Boards of Inquiry established under the Human Rights Code and assists in resolving other employment law matters pertaining to both union and non-union issues.
Ms. Roffey deals with labour disputes using a long-term perspective. She recognizes that the relationship between both parties must continue, long after an agreement is reached, and that litigation, with its costly implications on all levels, must be viewed as a last resort.
In negotiations she is intent upon obtaining a mutually acceptable agreement. With a reputation for being reliable and practical, she directs her efforts to the resolution of client issues, effectively and efficiently.
Ms. Roffey's practice for private sector clients involves representing clients in all areas of manufacturing and business. Her public sector work includes a number of public associations in the health care and social service sector, and their umbrella organizations.
