With more than 25 years’ commercial dispute experience, Howard is the head of the firm’s Dispute Resolution and Litigation practice.
He has an active practice in complex litigation and regulatory disputes, with substantial experience in Corporations Act disputes, white collar crime and regulatory investigations and Royal Commissions.
Howard has substantial experience in managing large-scale litigation and investigations, having acted in numerous substantial, multi-party contract, trust and trade practices disputes in the Supreme and Federal Courts.
He is also experienced in advising on and responding to external investigations and prosecutions brought by Commonwealth and State agencies against companies, directors and officers.
In 2001/2002 he coordinated the firm’s efforts in representing the State of Victoria before the Royal Commission into the Building & Construction Industry. In 2006/2007, he was closely involved in the Cole Commission of Inquiry involving AWB Limited and the subsequent ASIC inquiry and examinations. In 2014, Howard has acted for Cbus in the Royal Commission into Trade Union Governance and Corruption. Howard also specialises in anti-bribery and anti-corruption matters. Over the last four years he has been closely involved in the only prosecution brought in Australia under its foreign bribery laws.
