Grady B. Murdock has practiced labor and employment law on behalf of clients in the transportation, health care, retail, distribution and manufacturing industries for more than 35 years. In addition to maintaining substantive knowledge in both legacy and emerging legal areas, he has a wide range of contacts in all aspects of the labor and employment bar and among regulatory agencies, and, within the bounds of propriety and ethics, he uses his knowledge of members of the bar and agency operations to his clients' benefit.

Grady's practice includes a focus on the representation of employers in nationwide and other class actions, collective actions, pattern and practice actions, and individual actions arising under:

He also has counseled and represented clients in litigation-related laws, non-competition agreements and the anti-retaliation provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the Dodd-Frank Act.

In his traditional labor law practice, Grady handles labor arbitrations and collective bargaining and has appeared before the National Labor Relations Board in representation and unfair labor practice matters. He actively represents employers in efforts to achieve legislative and regulatory reform before:

  • The United States Congress
  • The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
  • The Department of Labor

Additionally, he is a member of the bar of the United States Supreme Court and is admitted to practice pro hac vice in numerous federal courts throughout the country.

Grady has served as lead counsel in:

  • Discrimination and wage and hour class and collective actions
  • Numerous plaintiffs' law suits alleging violation of discrimination laws
  • Numerous labor arbitrations
  • Litigation with and resolutions of pattern and practice and other matters with the EEOC

He also frequently provides insight into the EEOC for clients and colleagues, conducts audits for clients, including wage and hour audits and human resources audits, and provides extensive counseling to clients on a range of labor and employment matters.

Grady publishes numerous articles and papers and frequently speaks before a variety of groups on labor and employment law matters.

Grady currently serves as a member of the firm's Diversity and Inclusion committee and Equal Employment Opportunity practice group, as well as the Diversity Council.

From 1980 to 1985, Grady served as chief labor counsel at a major fast food corporation with more than 100,000 employees. During his in-house tenure, he advised management on international labor and employment law issues and successfully litigated a number of labor and employment matters in Canada. This unique insight from his in-house practice enhances his ability to represent clients today.
