Brian Pingel is a member of BrownWinick and is a member of the firm's Intellectual Property practice group. Brian has over thirty years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution, trademark registrations, litigation, licensing and appeals. Brian has been selected for inclusion inThe Best Lawyers in America® in the area of intellectual property law and in 2014 was named Best Lawyers' Lawyer of the Year in patent litigation. Since 2008 has been listed in SuperLawyers® for intellectual property and in 2009 for franchise/dealership law.
Brian's practice includes not only all areas of intellectual property activities on a national scale, but also the filing and protection of patents and trademarks in foreign countries throughout the world. In addition to his intellectual property activities, Brian provides a wide range of franchising legal services, including the preparation of Franchise Agreements and Franchise Offering Circulars, obtaining franchise registrations in various states and counseling clients on their franchising activities.
Brian received his A.A. in 1963 from Iowa Central and his B.S.E.E. in 1966 from the University of Iowa. In 1970, Brian received his J.D., with distinction, from the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska, Brian was Order of the Coif and on the Board of Editors for the Nebraska Law Review.
Brian was admitted to the Wisconsin bar in 1970, the Minnesota bar in 1973 and the Iowa bar in 1977. Brian is also admitted to practice in federal courts in Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado and Michigan as well as the Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the Federal Circuit. He is also admitted to practice in the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
