After being a partner at two national law firms for 12 years, Fred founded Frederick J. Tansill & Associates in 1997 in McLean. Fred graduated from Brown University (1970) and from Georgetown (Law 1974, Masters in Tax 1982). He is a Fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and has chaired the D.C. and Virginia and Fairfax Bars’ Wills, Trusts and Estates Sections and served as President of the Northern Virginia Estate Planning Council and the Northern Virginia Community Foundation. He has practiced law in taxation, trusts and estates and closely-held business matters in the Washington, D.C. area for more than 35 years. He is experienced in sophisticated tax-oriented estate planning strategies for high net worth individuals, international estate planning, foreign trusts, domestic and offshore asset protection strategies, sophisticated charitable strategies, disputes regarding estate and trust, probate, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements.
