Attorney Donna M. MacKenzie devotes a majority of her practice to representing individuals injured as a result of nursing home neglect and abuse, and to those injured by medical malpractice. She also represents the families of those killed in these matters.
Ms. MacKenzie has written numerous appellate briefs on behalf of injury victims in both state and federal courts. She is the author of a number of articles regarding Medicare liens and reimbursement rights in personal injury matters and frequently lectures on this topic at seminars presented by the Institute for Continuing Legal Education, State Bar of Michigan, American Association for Justice, and Michigan Association for Justice.
Ms. MacKenzie was named in the Best Lawyers in America in 2015 and 2016 and was recognized in 2016 by Best Lawyers in America as Medical Malpractice “Lawyer of the Year” in Troy. She was also included on the Michigan Leading Lawyers list in 2015. Ms. MacKenzie was selected to the 2015 Michigan Top 100 Super Lawyers list, the 2015 Michigan Top 50 Consumer Super Lawyers list, the 2014 and 2015 Michigan Top 50 Women Super Lawyers lists, and the 2014 and 2015 Michigan Top 25 Women Consumer Super Lawyers lists. Other recent honors for Ms. MacKenzie include recognition as a 2010 Up & Coming Lawyer by Michigan Lawyers Weekly, a four-time Super Lawyer “Rising Star”, a 2013 through 2015 Super Lawyer, and a Pacesetter by the Michigan Association for Justice.
Ms. MacKenzie is on the Executive Board for the Michigan Association for Justice. She also serves on the Board of Governors for the American Association for Justice and is active in the Oakland County Bar Association and Women Lawyers Association of Michigan.
