Chris Lenzo is a partner in the New Jersey law firm of Lenzo & Reis, LLC. He represents employees in employment law matters, including negotiation, mediation, arbitration, trial litigation, and appellate litigation of claims of discrimination, harassment, whistleblower retaliation, wrongful discharge, failure to accommodate disabilities, family and medical leave violations, breach of contract, and wage and hour violations.

In his practice, Chris has litigated several reported cases, some of which involved landmark decisions. He and his colleague Claudia Reis won a $1.549 million jury verdict in a retaliation case against New Jersey Transit after a month-long trial during 2009.

From 2014 to 2018, Mr. Lenzo was among the Top 100 New Jersey Super Lawyers receiving the most votes from other members of the bar. He has been included in the Thomson Reuters list of New Jersey Super Lawyers in the areas of labor and employment law and plaintiffs’ employment litigation since 2005.*

For 2013 and 2016, Best Lawyers in America designated Mr. Lenzo as Lawyer of the Year in the field of Employment Law-Individuals for the Newark Metropolitan Area based on votes cast by Mr. Lenzo’s peers in the labor and employment law bar. Mr. Lenzo has been included in the list of Best Lawyers in America in the practice area of labor and employment law since 2006.*

In March 2013, Mr. Lenzo was Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney. That distinction is attained based on references by judges and other attorneys, and through passing a written examination.

In December 2020, Mr. Lenzo was nominated by his peers and elected by the Board of the American Bar Foundation (“ABF”) to be a Fellow of the ABF. The Fellows comprise a global honorary society of attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars whose public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession and to the welfare of their communities. Membership in the Fellows is limited to 1% of licensed lawyers in a jurisdiction. The ABF is committed to expanding knowledge and confronting injustice of all kinds, including racial injustice. The ABF’s research, programming, writing, and policy recommendations have helped move the legal profession and society as a whole toward greater equality and justice.

Mr. Lenzo served on the Employment Law Subcommittee of the New Jersey Supreme Court Model Civil Jury Charge Committee for twelve years. He serves as a Master for the Sidney Reitman Employment Law American Inn of Court. Mr. Lenzo writes and lectures on employment law frequently for such organizations as the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the National Employment Lawyers Association/New Jersey, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America – New Jersey, New Jersey Lawyer – The Magazine, the New Jersey Law Journal, the New Jersey Labor and Employment Law Quarterly, the Essex County Bar Association, the Somerset County Bar Association, the Practicing Law Institute, the Council on Education in Management, the Society for Human Resource Management, and the Human Resources Advisory Group of North Jersey.
