Chris Converse serves as co-chair of Gardere's Private Equity Industry Team. He directs his practice toward mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations, financings, and public and private offerings of debt and equity nationwide. Chris focuses on several sectors and industries, including information technology services, manufacturing, franchising, aerospace, product distribution, supply chain services, nutritional supplements and restaurants. Chris is known by clients for his pragmatism and responsiveness. His clients include private equity firms, including Rosewood Private Investments, Strait Lane Capital Partners, Longwater Opportunities and Luther King Capital Management – in their acquisition and disposition of portfolio companies – and family-owned businesses. His private equity clients include both funded entities and fundless sponsors.
Furthermore, Chris serves as outside general counsel for many of his clients, forming close, long-term relationships and meeting a variety of business needs.
Chris is an editor and contributor for From the Sox Up, the Gardere Securities Law Blog, which covers securities law and corporate governance issues from a practical, solutions-oriented perspective. He also provides corporate law and mergers and acquisitions commentary to many local and national businesses, as well as to legal publications. For example, he was recently quoted in Law360's Dealmakers Q&A series: "We need to reform our tax laws to allow small and medium-sized businesses to gain greater access to capital. Simplifying the tax code will reduce the costs incurred by businesses to comply with legal and reporting requirements. In addition, we should be skeptical of so-called 'reforms' that carry with them unintended consequences."
