Joseph is a Member in Stoll Keenon Ogden's Lexington office, and has been with the firm since 1983. He is a member of the Labor, Employment & Employee Benefits Practice. His practice focuses on employee benefits and executive compensation, as well as corporate law.
Joseph is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell® and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® for his many legal accomplishments. He was a member of the legal team that successfully represented the Kentucky Retirement Systems before the United State Supreme Court involving an asserted violation of the ADEA. He has also spoken at many local and regional seminars.
Joseph is a member of the Fayette County, Kentucky and American Bar Associations. He is a member and past President of the Lexington Employee Benefits Council. To give back to the community, he has served on the Board of Trustees of Lexington Catholic High School, including serving on its Executive Committee for eight years. He is a member of the Rotary Club, and is a volunteer at God's Pantry and the Catholic Action Center. Married with two children, Joseph enjoys golf, tennis, music and UK sports during his free time.
Kentucky Retirement Systems v. E.E.O.C., 128 S. Ct. 2361 (2008) — He defended the Kentucky Retirement Systems in a claim brought against it by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleging age discrimination in the state’s retirement plan. The case, which was litigated for twelve years, was heard by the United States Supreme Court, which ruled in favor of KRS. The result saved the state system approximately $70 million dollars.
