Brian Cohen is the Canadian co-lead of Denton’s Trust, Estates and Wealth Preservation practice. Focusing his practice in the areas of estate planning, trusts and personal taxation, Brian advises high net worth individuals on succession planning alternatives. A portion of his practice also involves advising donors, charitable organizations, public and private foundations, and not-for-profit organizations regarding tax implications of formation, registration, governance and planned giving strategies. In addition, Brian frequently advises on estate litigation matters, including acting for the estate trustee in Re John Frederick Mitchell Estate and as counsel for the Children's Lawyer in Re Kaptyn Estate.
Brian has presented for the STEP Annual Conference and continuing education sessions, the Ontario Bar Association, ILCO, Federated Press and the Canadian Private Family Office Invitational. Brian is also contributing editor of Federated Press' Personal Tax and Estate Planning Journal and has prepared papers for the Law Society of Upper Canada's Estates and Trusts Forum as well as the Registered Deposit Broker Association Newsletters.
Brian was called to the Bar in Ontario in 1999 after obtaining his LL.B at Osgoode Hall Law School
