Tony has dedicated his professional career to resolving his clients’ real estate issues. His practice focuses on acquisitions, development and leasing of commercial property, easements and title matters, zoning and land use, and community associations. Since joining Verrill Dana in 1994, Tony has represented individuals and businesses in a wide range of real estate matters, including extensive work for a number of the State’s electric and gas companies, water districts, and wind power electric generators. He now serves as Chair of Verrill Dana’s Real Estate Department.
Recent large projects include: the largest operating wind power project in New England, with associated 25-mile 115 kV transmission line; the next-largest operating wind power project in New England, with associated 38-mile 115 kV transmission line; a natural gas expansion project involving five new compressor stations; and an 85-mile 345 kV electric transmission line. Tony’s work on these projects has included negotiating numerous easement and lease agreements, resolving a variety of title problems and disputes, working with State agencies and local officials, and arranging for project financings.
Since 2007, Tony has been recognized in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business under Real Estate, and listed in The Best Lawyers in America© under Real Estate Law. He has participated at a number of speaking engagements throughout the State, primarily on the law of easements. Tony is an agent for First American Title Insurance Company, and is a member of the Real Estate and Title Section of the Maine State Bar Association.
Tony served on the City of Portland Board of Assessment Review from 1998-2001, and on the Town of Falmouth Planning Board from 2002-2009 (serving as Chair from 2007-2009). An avid Boston Bruins and Red Sox fan, he also enjoys hiking and downhill skiing with his family.
