Ms. Tiffen is a Member at Dickinson Wright PLLC. She has been in the private practice of law since 1981, concentrating in the areas of labor and employment law and appellate practice.
Ms. Tiffen's labor and employment practice emphasizes advising and defending employers in employment-related law and litigation, including:
- advice and consultation on hiring, discipline, investigation of unlawful harassment and other matters, termination, and other terms of employment;
- reviewing and drafting employment policies and contracts;
- defending formal charges of discrimination before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Arizona Civil Rights Division, as well as equivalent agencies in other states;
- defending litigation involving all types of employment claims including claims of sexual and other harassment, disability discrimination, and other statutory discrimination, alleged breach of contract of employment, alleged wrongful discharge, fraud, defamation and other employment-related torts, wage disputes, and restrictive covenants.
Ms. Tiffen served on the Executive Review Board of, and was a frequent contributor to, The Arizona Labor Letter, a monthly publication reporting significant developments in labor and employment law. She is a contributing author of the Arizona Employment Law Handbook. Ms. Tiffen also taught a course in Labor and Employment Law at Keller Graduate School of Management for seven years. She has served as a frequent speaker on employment-related issues at seminars for attorneys and businesses, including those sponsored by the National Education Council, the Arizona Employers' Council, the Arizona Labor Letter, and Personnel Law Update, and at meetings of business groups and other associations. Ms. Tiffen is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, Arizona State University, teaching Employment Law and has also been part of the teaching team for The Litigation Experience, an advocacy course.
