Adrián Magallanes has been part of Von Wobeser y Sierra S.C. since 2002. He is a Partner of the firm with ample experience offering legal counsel for Fortune 500 companies, local enterprises and government entities throughout the world. He has a solid track record and has international expertise working in law firms in Mexico, the United States and Asia. He is admitted to practice in Mexico and New York, and his main practice areas include International & National Arbitration, Constitutional (Amparo) & Administrative Proceedings, Government Procurement & Public Works, Civil & Commercial Litigation and Anticorruption & Compliance.
Adrián has participated in various complex litigation and arbitration proceedings (ICC, AAA-ICDR, LCIA, CAM, CANACO, UNCITRAL), both domestic and international, with particular experience in the commercial, construction, government infrastructure and energy sectors. Also, he has represented sovereigns and investors in treaty based arbitration proceedings, particularly before ICSID.
He has been counsel in several of the largest arbitration cases in history held against PEMEX and CFE, and counsel in what is considered the largest commercial case in history in Mexico. Also, he has important experience in cases involving the maritime authorities in Mexico.
He has vast experience in arbitration award annulment and enforcement proceedings before Mexican Courts.
He and his team have advised over 25 domestic and multinational companies in all aspects of contracts entered with the Mexican government and its agencies, particularly with PEMEX, CFE, IMSS, ISSSTE, Sistema de Transporte Colectivo (METRO), the Ministry of Public Security, State Municipalities and others. He has advised clients in public biddings and directs adjudications, and has assisted clients in clarification meetings and in the assembling of the economical, technical and legal proposals. Also, he has experience in successfully challenging the decisions and awards of the adjudicating authorities in the public bidding proceedings.
He has participated in litigation cases before various courts in Mexico, including various cases before the Supreme Court. These cases have involved regulatory matters with high stakes for Fortune 500 companies. He has also litigated high-profile cases involving the revocation of public concessions and administrative permits and licenses, and has vast experience in human rights litigation before Federal Courts.
