Salenger, Sack, Kimmel & Bavaro, LLP (SSK&B) is a law firm devoted to helping people. For more than 30 years, the firm has represented victims of accidents and medical malpractice with the goal of obtaining full and fair compensation for those affected by serious or fatal injuries. This dedication to client needs and the ability to satisfy clients with consistent, meaningful and open communication throughout the entire litigation process distinguishes SSK&B from its peers. Attorneys and staff are always sensitive to the difficulties that confront victims of negligence and treat all clients with the dignity and respect they deserve. Clients are kept well informed of the status and progress of their cases through frequent written status reports and close telephone contact. SSK&B has outstanding record of multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements, including one of the Top Verdicts in New York State (2008). Another case handled by SSK&B prompted legislative change to improve amusement park safety. As the legal representative of the family of a child tragically killed on an amusement park ride, SSK&B partner Jeffrey M. Kimmel was invited by Senator Nicolas Spano to testify at a New York State Senate Hearing in March of 2006, which resulted in several new laws being passed to improve child safety in New York. In the summer of 2009, a settlement was reached in the case. Firm partners’ achievements outside the courtroom and in the community are significant as well. Founding partners Marvin Salenger and Bob Sack are both included in the peer review “Best Lawyers in America,” and Marvin Salenger appeared in the New York Magazine’s “Best Lawyers” issue. All four name partners are named on the New York Metro “Super Lawyer” list, with Marvin ranked among the Top 100 Attorneys on that list. He was also profiled in Super Lawyer magazine in October 2012. Marvin and partner Jeff Kimmel have both been recognized for the prestigious Ten Leaders in Law Bob Sack serves on the Board of Governors of the New York City Trial Lawyers Association and received the organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award in October 2012. A mentor to many, Bob has also taught Business Law at Queensborough Community College. Jeffrey Kimmel serves on and is the former chair of the Committee on Committees, which oversees the work of more than 50 committees for the New York County Lawyers’ Association (NYCLA), one of the most influential bar associations in the country. He also served on NYCLA’s Board of Directors and, as a former chair of the organization’s Young Lawyers Section, established its highly successful Mentoring Program. He has volunteered as a judge for Yale University’s Invitational Mock Trial competition and judges an annual high school moot court competition on Long Island. Joseph Bavaro was selected by two high-ranking judges to serve on important posts-- the Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission and a select task force to make the Supreme Court more efficient. Joe is the immediate past President of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers and a past Chairman of the Nassau Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association, a 60-year old association representing nearly 400 Long Island litigators. Well-respected among peers and clients alike, SSK&B attorneys have consistently been highly rated by Martindale-Hubbell’s peer review process which identifies attorneys with preeminent legal ability based on experience, ethical standards, integrity and overall professional excellence.
