When our founder, Roger Oatley, left one of Canada’s largest law firms in 1974 to create the firm that is now Oatley Vigmond he was committed to two things for his new firm: that it would be a pleasant and rewarding place to work, and that the firm’s standards of practice would be second to none.

Oatley Vigmond is a home for only the brightest, most creative and most productive people in the profession – people with sound judgment, a passion for the work we do, strong people skills and a devotion to acquiring the best possible outcome. The standards we keep require no less.

Our commitment is reflected in the leadership we have provided to the personal injury bar. Roger Oatley is a past president of the Advocates’ Society. Jim Vigmond is a past president of the Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association. Both Roger and Jim are Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Fellowship is extended only to those experienced trial lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality.

Our commitment is also demonstrated by the time we give to improving the skills of our colleagues. Each of our lawyers speaks regularly at personal injury conferences, contributes articles and provides advice and counsel to other lawyers and health care professionals alike. Roger Oatley is the author of Addressing The Jury, (2nd ed) Canada’s only text on personal injury cases before juries.

What Makes Us Different

We will do everything in our power to serve your cause with expertise, dedication and compassion. Our goal is to provide the best possible health care solutions for every person we represent. We successfully represent individuals with spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, catastrophic injuries and serious orthopaedic injuries. We are here to support you – from the critical first meetings right through the entire legal process at no cost until a settlement is reached. Once your settlement is reached, we take special care to help you plan wisely for your long-term financial and personal future.

We do not rest on our laurels at our firm. We know each client and each case requires that continuously search for the better way: a new way to advance a claim for damages; a more compelling approach to proving liability; a more persuasive way to present a case at mediation or at pre-trial; or a more convincing way to present an opening statement to a jury. We never rest in our search for better technology to improve our management of documents or our analysis of the law. We never rest in our search for a better way to help our clients.
