Since 1931, the law firm of Murphy Desmond S.C. has been working to protect the interests of our clients on legal matters that affect their families and businesses. We offer a full range of legal services that include business law, estate planning, criminal law, mergers and acquisitions, immigration, municipal law, family law, litigation, mediation, professional license defense, employment law, real estate, tax, and more. In addition, Murphy Desmond has numerous lawyers and staff who are fluent in Spanish and a Spanish website.

Over the years, Murphy Desmond has received numerous accolades for our firm and our attorneys. Many of our lawyers are named on lists for Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers, are rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell and lawyers.com, are highly rated on Avvo.com, and have received various other accolades.

With over 30 attorneys in offices in Madison, Dodgeville, Janesville, and Appleton, Wisconsin, our lawyers work together to provide timely and innovative solutions to our clients' legal challenges.

Commitment to our communities is important to Murphy Desmond, as well, and has been since our beginnings. Our founder, Robert B. L. Murphy, was a philanthropist and attorney known for his integrity both in and out of the courtroom. We still consider Murphy Desmond to be "Bob Murphy's firm." Our attorneys and staff are active volunteers in many charitable and community organizations, and the firm contributes financially to causes in health, human services, education, athletics, the arts, special events and local business development.

Murphy Desmond is also intent on reducing our environmental footprint. The design of our Madison office in 2007 incorporated numerous earth-friendly features and materials, and the firm continues to utilize processes and supplies that benefit the environment, whenever possible.

In 2017, Murphy Desmond was admitted to Legal Netlink Alliance (LNA), a worldwide lawyer referral network, to assist us when clients need lawyers outside of Wisconsin. The network consists of carefully vetted mid-size law firms. Members meet at least twice a year to discuss important issues relevant in law firms today.

When seeking legal advice, choose a law firm that values relationships with its clients and the community. Choose Murphy Desmond.

Why Hire an Immigration Attorney?

All too often, clients overlook the "legalese," the "fine print," the "boiler plate," and focus on defining the work scope, pricing, and schedule.
