Best Law Firm

Dickstein Shapiro LLP, Market Leading Specialty FirmSM founded in 1953, is internationally recognized for its work with clients, from start-ups to Fortune 500 corporations. Dickstein Shapiro provides strategic counsel and develops multidisciplinary legal solutions by leveraging its core strengths—litigation, regulatory, transactions, and advocacy—to successfully advance clients’ business interests.

The Complex Dispute Resolution (CDR) Practice provides comprehensive solutions to avoid, limit, and resolve complex litigation and liability problems. Our CDR attorneys succeed at helping clients maximize recoveries and minimize exposure through creative, cost-effective dispute resolution alternatives and strategies. We manage complex liability problems, particularly in times of crisis, for major corporate and government clients. This work includes: negotiating and structuring nationwide and statewide class settlements; providing comprehensive risk analyses and strategic planning; and representing individuals and organizations in high-profile federal investigations.

The Corporate & Finance Practice focuses on middle-market transactions—those with values in the range of $10 million to$500 million. The practice’s attorneys provide a full range of corporate, finance, tax, and transactional services to clients and pair these capabilities with an industry-focused approach.

The Government Law & Strategy Practice seeks to advance clients’ interests before the legislative and executive branches of government—a practice unique to Washington, DC. Increasingly, this demands a sophisticated combination of political and substantive resources, as well as a close coordination of skills drawn from traditionally separate disciplines, including government representation, regulatory and administrative counseling, and even litigation. Our attorneys and advisors provide support in a number of areas, including public policy, government contracts, energy, State Attorneys General, global security, political law, and congressional investigations.

Dickstein Shapiro’s premier Insurance Coverage Group represents policyholders in disputes with their insurers. Many of our insurance coverage attorneys are nationally recognized as leaders in insurance recovery and have briefed and argued several of the most important and best-known decisions favorable to policyholders in federal and state appellate courts. Unlike some firms that “walk both sides of the street,” our attorneys exclusively represent policyholders in resolving coverage disputes in negotiations, arbitrations, litigation, and appellate proceedings. Dickstein Shapiro attorneys have helped our clients recover billions from insurers and insurance brokers under a wide range of policies.

Combining decades of litigation experience with a robust procurement and asset management practice, Dickstein Shapiro’s Intellectual Property Practice attorneys devise strategies to help clients protect IP assets while maximizing their value. Our attorneys have handled litigations on both the plaintiff and the defense sides, involving claims from a few million to hundreds of millions of dollars, including successfully defending suits where patent owners sought hundreds of millions in damages, and obtaining a judgment in excess of $500 million on behalf of a plaintiff. In addition to litigation, Dickstein Shapiro attorneys develop comprehensive IP programs and strategies encompassing all aspects of our clients’ intellectual property needs, including asset management, patent and trademark procurement, licensing, and counseling.

Litigation, in the right hands, is a powerful business tool: the right case at the right time can produce major benefits and help companies achieve important strategic goals. With more than 100 litigators in offices nationwide, Dickstein Shapiro’s attorneys provide the highest level of integrated representation in numerous inter-related areas and excel in litigating and settling complex, high-stakes business disputes. Dickstein Shapiro works with clients to develop a comprehensive understanding of their objectives and case strategies to achieve them as quickly, efficiently, and agreeably as possible. Whether through trial verdicts, arbitrations, settlements, or other litigation alternatives, Dickstein Shapiro’s litigators seek the best outcome possible for our clients’ goals and their bottom line.
