Case History

  • State of Texas v. Patrick Waller — Mr. waller was convicted of Kidnapping and Robbery based on faulty eye-witness testimony. After a 7 years fight we obtained a DNA test that cleared him of the offense and the convictions were vacated by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals based on actual innocence.
  • State of Texas v. Stephen Craig Thompson — Mr. Thompson was convicted of sexual assault of a child based on a false accusation by his young daughter. When the daughter became an adult she recanted her testimony and stated that the alleged sexual assault did not happen. The conviction was set aside and Mr. Thompson released from prison.
  • State v. Maria Isabel Hurtado — Ms. Hurtado was convicted of First degree injury to a child based on allegedly knowingly causing serious bodily injury based on "shaken baby syndrome." She was sentenced to 8 years in prison. I began representing her after her conviction and filed a motion for new trial based on her previous lawyer rendering ineffective assistance of counsel. the motion was granted and I represented her at the new trial where she was found not guilty of the First degree injury to a child. She was convicted of negligence and sentenced to her back time and released from jail.
  • State v. Michael Grossman — Mr. Grossman was convicted in Federal court for fraud based on loan transactions. I represented him on appeal. The US Court of Appeals for The Fifth Circuit reversed his conviction based on insufficient evidence.
